Helping horses and riders transform and meet their riding goals.

Nadia Moheisen is an FEI rider. She has competed horses from never being under saddle to I1 and has gotten all her scores for her USDF bronze, silver, and half of her gold medal with the help of S Judge and Grand Prix trainer Brian MacMahon. All the scores were on horses Nadia trained herself and brought up the levels. Every horse Nadia has had the honor to work with has taught her and helped her to be a better trainer and teacher for the next horse and client. She has ridden many different breeds and types.

Nadia started her interest in dressage when she spent a month in high school in Pittsburgh, PA, at the Robert O. Mayer Riding Academy, learning Classical Dressage with Robert O. Mayer and Lacey Mayer. After college, she worked with trainer David Donnelly for two years and learned how to work with a variety of horses, from green horses and stallions to ones that needed retraining and bringing them to their first shows. He taught her how to gain true harmony and really helped her understand how to put a foundation on a horse and how to make them trust you. He taught her the philosophy of training correctly but simply by prioritizing the basics and the horse’s health and management. He also instilled lifelong philosophies in training and approaches to horses such as when to think outside the box and when to go back to the basics and to not rush the process. His kind approach to the horses and students inspired her to act the same way in her training and teaching.

Working with Brian MacMahon taught her more about the biomechanics of the rider and just how little changes in alignment and position can really influence the combination. His analytical and efficient manner of coaching helped her become a better teacher and technical rider at the upper levels. His coaching helped her show multiple horses at the FEI level and understand how to get the collection for that level. He also taught her how to help the horses use their backs correctly and how to problem-solve riding issues with different exercises and approaches. His timing and constant feedback in a lesson helped her be a clearer and more empowering instructor for her own students and be able to coach clients at the upper levels.

Nadia has also started over 30 horses, giving them their foundation in dressage, and knows how to get a horse from never being handled to its first full show season. She has had multiple young horses get 70’s at their first season of showing. She has worked at both a large Arabian breeding farm and a large Friesian breeding farm helping to get the horses started and to their first few dressage shows. Nadia also has experience with both sales and investment horses. Please go to the sales page to find out more specific information.

Nadia helps her students understand where they are at and create a path towards reaching their goals. She can work with complicated horses and issues and help create a roadmap towards harmony and success in the show ring and at home. Nadia has a knack for seeing what misalignments are happening that are blocking progress. She is very empathic but not too sympathic that she will not push the rider to get out of their own way. She is simple and clear in her instruction and is willing to work with hobby riders and competitive riders alike to help them gain a better relationship and partnership with their horse. She also has a degree in psychology and understands how important mindset and creating small and correct daily habits truly are to creating a successful partnership with a horse. When approaching a new horse and rider combination, Nadia always takes a personal approach to meet them where they are and help them in the style that creates the most harmony and success for that person’s learning style. If you are looking for a dedicated instructor, book a lesson today! Nadia can travel to certain locations or clients can haul over to one of the barns she works out of. Horses can be boarded for training for tune-ups or to work through a specific issue. Call or message to get more specific information.
